It’s been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and Vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.
“How to Train Your Dragon 2″ has more of the same fun as it’s predecessor! Hiccup and Toothless ride through the air and enjoy riding past clouds. The humorous scenes are many in the movie, including one crash landing in which Toothless comes in a bit hard and the kids in the audience laughed with delight at this moment and his expressions.
Hiccup’s dad wants him to be Chief of the Vikings but Hiccup doesn’t think he will ever measure up to his father. He still likes Astrid and he also gets a surprise when someone special returns to his life. Ultimately, Hiccup must stand up to Drago, a villain that wants all the dragons and intends to take them from Hiccup and his people.
The 3D works really great in this film, with the depth of the land and skies truly standing out in amazing ways. The chuckles from the kids (and their parents) confirmed to me that all were having a good time. We are pleased to award the movie our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve plus. “How to Train Your Dragon 2″ is entertaining with a capital E!
