Grandma Mott’s Sour Cream Pound Cake


 Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound butter
  • 3 c sugar
  • 3 c cake flour
  • 1 c sour cream
  • ½ t baking soda
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 6 eggs, separated

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 300°F.  Grease and flour tube pan.
  2. Whip egg whites, until fluffy and softly peaked – stop before they become stiff.
  3. Cream butter and sugar.
  4. Blend flour and baking soda.
  5. Add 6 egg yolks.
  6. Alternately blend in combination of cake flour and soda, with sour cream.
  7. Add vanilla.
  8. Fold in egg whites.
  9. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. 
  10. Bake at 300°F for one and a half hours.
