Turkey Sloppy Joes Dinner


Sloppy Turkey Joes and Sweet Potato Fries

 

Shopping List:

  • 1 ⅓ lbs ground turkey
  • 2 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil
  • ½  red onion ( chopped)
  • 1 Tbs. grill seasoning
  • 2 Tbs. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup tomato sauce (8 oz)
  • 4 sandwich rolls, split
  • 12 celery sticks
  • 12 carrot sticks
  • 4 sweet potatoes, sliced lengthwise into quarters
  • 1 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil
  • ½ Tbs. of garlic salt
  • ½ tsp. of paprika

Directions for Sloppy Joes:

  • In a large skillet, heat 2 Tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the ground turkey to the pan and brown meat, breaking it into smaller pieces with a large spatula.
  • Add chopped onion to the cooking meat.
  • In a small bowl, combine grill seasoning, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce.
  • Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the meat and stir to combine.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Serve Sloppy Joes on buns and serve with carrot and celery sticks.
  • Makes 4 servings.

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Directions for Sweet Potato Fries:

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

  • Scrub the skins of the potatoes and remove any blemishes.  Cut into wedges.
  • Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, combine 1 Tablespoon of olive oil, garlic salt, and paprika.
  • Add cut potatoes, and completely coat with oil mixture.
  • Turn seasoned potatoes onto lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Bake 40 Minutes, or until potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.
  • Makes 4 servings.
